CALL FOR 2025-2026 FELLOWS PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS OF MONGOL STUDIES

In honour of prestigious Mongolian scholars, the Visiting Fellows Programme is now open for international doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to visit Mongolia in the academic year 2025-2026. The Fellowship aims to support five (5) international young researchers in Mongolian Studies and provide partial funding for visiting Mongolia. The application deadline is 01 May 2025.

The Number of Fellowships and Field of Study:

  1. Damdinsuren Fellowship: For one (1) researcher studying Mongolian literature and history.

  2. Luvsanvandan Fellowship: For one (1) researcher studying Mongolian language.

  3. Rinchen Fellowship: For one (1) researcher studying Mongolian cultures.

  4. Tsultem Fellowship: For one (1) researcher studying Mongolian arts

  5. Choimaa Fellowship: For one (1) researcher studying Mongolian historical written sources and palaeography.

Eligibility:

  1. Fellows must be a doctoral or post-doctoral researcher, aged below 40, in Mongolian study.

  2. Must not be a citizen of Mongolia

  3. Be available to visit Mongolia for up to 3 months between 1 Sep 2025 and 30 Sep 2026.

What Fellowship offers:

  1. Three months stay at the NUM international student’s apartment/dormitory free of charge (if not, a researcher is responsible for finding and paying for accommodation)

  2. The monthly stipend will be MNT 800,000 Mongolian togrog

  3. Attend the graduate courses as an auditor (for PhD students)

  4. Provide an advisor or counterpart researcher from NUM

  5. Give access to the libraries of NUM

  6. Working desk for visiting scholar

  7. Attend and present at the seminar of NUM

  8. Opportunity to publish in NUM journals

Responsibilities of the Fellows:

  1. A fellow shall present in the seminar series of IMS, NUM

  2. Publish a research paper in the journal “Acta Mongolica” by IMS, NUM. The recipient must use NUM affiliation and acknowledge the Fellowship if published in other journals.

  3. If necessary, a visiting scholar might submit a brief report along with an academic advisor or collaborative researcher to NUM.

  4. Follow the regulations and maintain academic integrity at the National University of Mongolia during the fellowship period.
